Before you switch.
Can a heat pump heat a Boulder house in January?
A cold-climate heat pump, sized correctly for a house that has been sealed, can carry most or all of the heating. For the coldest hours there should be a plan: electric backup heat or keeping a gas furnace as a second stage. We size it and tell you which we recommend.
Why seal the house before sizing a heat pump?
Air leaks and leaky ducts raise the heating load. Fixing them first means the heat pump can be smaller, quieter and cheaper to run. Sizing before sealing locks in a bigger system than the house needs.
Do you still repair gas furnaces?
Yes. Not everyone is ready to switch, and a furnace that fails in December needs fixing now. We repair and maintain furnaces and boilers and give you an honest view of when switching makes sense.
Do you work on commercial buildings?
Yes. Offices, labs, retail and restaurants: rooftop heat pumps, ductless and variable refrigerant flow systems, repair and maintenance. The same four steps apply to a building as to a house.
Is Trident a surface or coatings company?
No. “Surface Experts” is part of the name, not the trade. Trident is a heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor only.
